Dining with one's friends and beloved family is certainly one of life's primal and most innocent delights, one that is both soul-satisfying and eternal.
--Julia Child

Welcome to my blog. I love to cook and wanted to share some of my experiences with people who feel the same. I'll warn you, I always make a huge mess and I don't usually have recipes for what I make -- I just throw things in until it seems right, or do it by memory. I don't have the patience for baking but have learned the importance of thinking on one's feet in the kitchen. I just love to make food, I adore Julia Child, and I believe that if it doesn't taste good, you shouldn't eat it.

Some of my qualifications:
- I have 3/4 inch scars on each of my thumbs from separate run-ins with my beloved, yet testy Cuisinart, one on the side of my thumb from an over anxious cheese grater, and a huge tub of Burt's Bee's Res-Q ointment in my knife drawer for burns and such (although a pat of butter works in a pinch even though everyone says not to use it)
- I have persuaded my husband of 6 years to eat garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, stinky cheese, and other foods he has "detested" all his life.
- I have prepared a gourmet, 6-course Thanksgiving meal for 12 people with a convection oven, two burners, and zero counter space.
- I believe in marinating the chef (champagne is always nice)
- I have at least four aprons
- I love cheese and bread and have eaten an entire wedge of cheese while standing in front of the fridge.
- I believe mopping up my kitchen floor and/or whisking egg yolks can be considered a workout
- I have a library of cook books and a recipe holder that's bursting at the seams
- I love butter
- My chicken pot pie has caused men I'm not married to, to roll their eyes back in their heads and moan out loud.
- I make a mess when I cook. If the sink isn't filled with peelings, there isn't flour on the floor or tomato sauce on the counter, we must be having takeout.
- I love to cook. When I'm not cooking, I'm thinking about cooking.

So, I hope you'll come back -- I plan to share some of my recipes, mishaps and more (pics too)!
