Wonderful Water!

There's nothing better than treating yourself to a relaxing, restorative "spa day."  A massage, a body wrap, a hot-pink mani/pedi, and that ice-cold glass of cucumber "spa water" do wonders to renew the soul. (Sigh.)

According to the Mayo Clinic, water makes up about 60 percent of our body weight. And, The Institute of Medicine determined that an "adequate intake" of total beverages each day is about 13 cups (3 liters) for men and about 9 cups (2.2 liters) for women. That's a lot of beverages. (Does wine count?) Luckily, I love water. In fact, I used to carry a water bottle with me all around the house, filling it up several times a day. But, I would keep forgetting where I left it, and it was a beast to keep clean (I apparently chose the one water bottle that wasn't dishwasher safe), so I eventually got rid of it. Then, we got the SodaStream Penguin Sparkling Water Maker and that changed everything. I can have bubbly water whenever I want it. Yay!

Lemon and Rosemary Water (Still)
Not a fan of water? Try spiffing it up a bit. Add fruit slices to still water, or a few drops of fresh juice to sparkling. I love putting lemon or lime slices in either kind, and I have also been adding slices of fresh ginger and herbs like rosemary, lavender, mint, and tarragon into the mix as well. Or, fill a pitcher with still water, mint, and slices of cucumber and you'll be refilling your glass all day. (You can strain out the goodies, or let them fall into your glass -- up to you.)

It's tasty and refreshing, and it will hopefully get you drinking more water in no time. Plus, it's like having your own spa day, every day. And who doesn't love that?
